We will be taking part in Maths Week Scotland once again this year. We are always looking at different ways to promote Numeracy and Maths and this year we will be using the outdoors. In school each class will be completing a Trail around the school counting, calculating, collecting data, looking for patterns and shapes and measuring. There will be an Escape Room style activity planned for all classes to attempt in the week. We will be entering the Sumdog national competition and introducing ‘Four of a Kind’ – 4 calculations, one each of the 4 functions (+, -, x & divide) to be worked out every day.
Unfortunately, we are unable to invite parents into school to be part of our Maths week this year, but we have created an outdoor family task for every Google classroom to be completed at home. We hope many families will get everyone together to collect items outdoors and work together to create a piece of maths art. We would love to see all families’ efforts shared on the Google classrooms. We want everyone to have fun with Maths!
